A UFO has been spotted over a historic barn in the skies of California this month, sparking a wave of interest from bewildered locals as to what the object could be.

NASA’s Moon monitoring program says they have recorded the brightest explosion in the history of their program. They caught it on video and say that it could have been seen without the aid of a telescope.
“On May 17, 2013, an object about the size of a small boulder hit the lunar surface in Mare Imbrium,” says Bill Cooke of NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office. “It exploded in a flash nearly 10 times as bright as anything we’ve ever seen before.”
They estimate that the boulder was about a foot wide, 40 kg in weight, and was traveling at about 56,000 mph when it hit. This would amount to an explosion as large as 5 tons of TNT.
On the evening of the meteor strike, NASA and University of Western Ontario cameras caught meteors in the earth’s atmosphere, leading them to believe that the Earth and Moon were both bombarded by meteorites at the same time. Lucky for us, the Earth has an atmosphere to protect it, and most meteorites burn up before they strike the ground. The Moon does not have an atmosphere, so even small meteorites can strike with great force, causing large explosions like this one.
NASA says they will keep an eye on meteor storms like this. In future manned Moon missions it will be important to know when it might be dangerous for astronauts to be out and about on the lunar surface.
“We’ll be keeping an eye out for signs of a repeat performance next year when the Earth-Moon system passes through the same region of space,” says Cooke. “Meanwhile, our analysis of the May 17th event continues.”

Gold looked a bit hesitant and embarrassed when he was first approached and asked about Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS), a controversial department in Bigelow Aerospace. Gold replied that he was not a part of that division, “so I can’t really talk about BAAS.”
Shepard then asked about the FAA being instructed to forward UFO reports to BAASS. Gold laughed, and said, “Here we go!”
Gold then came back with a surprising response, “I personally find the subject matter very interesting.” Gold continued, saying that he looked to the work of Kepler, and the discoveries of exoplanets, which leads him to conclude, “I think the galaxy is most likely teeming with life. As a matter of fact that is what science is teaching us.’
Johnson interrupted, pressing Gold for information on UFO reports, to which Gold responded, “I am not part of that division so I can’t comment on what they do, but I am glad someone is taking them, I can say, because these are important issues that deserve serious attention particularly from an air space issue.”
Currently, the FAA Air Traffic Organization Policy Section 8, which is titled “Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) Report,” instructs:
9-8-1. GENERAL
a. Persons wanting to report UFO/unexplained phenomena activity should contact a UFO/ unexplained phenomena reporting data collection center, such as Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS) (voice: 1-877-979-7444 or e-mail: Reporting@baass.org), the National UFO Reporting Center, etc.
b. If concern is expressed that life or property might be endangered, report the activity to the local law enforcement department.
The National UFO Reporting Center posts all reports on their UFO reports website. However, BAASS does not currently share their reports or investigations with the public.
