New powers to block Britons from extradition
New powers to block extradition could be given to ministers to better protect Britons wanted by foreign courts, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.By Tom Whitehead, Andrew Porter and Christopher Hope
Published: 9:57PM BST 06 Sep 2010An independent review of agreements with the US and European nations is to be announced by Theresa May, the Home Secretary.
It follows widespread concern that the current system is biased against Britain and follows cases including that of Gary McKinnon, the alleged hacker wanted by the American authorities.
Under the review, which could be announced as soon as Wednesday, the Home Secretary’s hand could be strengthened and foreign authorities could be required to provide more evidence before British courts grant a request. A panel of lawyers and international relations experts, led by a judge, will also examine whether suspects accused of crimes that took place mostly in this country but affected foreign citizens should be tried at home.

In principle this should be good news for Gary McKinnon and for the other people facing unfair extradition to the USA and to a lesser extent , to the European Union.
However, we wait to see the detail of exactly what is officially announced about this “independent review”.
The Hiome Office civil servants and their legal advisors and the Judiciary were also supposed to be “independent”, but they have failed to protect United Kingdom sovereignty and the human rights of British citizens caught up in extradition bureacracy.
Will any “new powers” be put in place in time to prevent Gary McKinnon’s extradition to the USA ?

Reader Submitted Report[Unedited]8-5-10 I was only a kid at the time but I saw a couple that had police in beaver county and Ohio on a chase. They where within eye view hovering all around beaver county. I know now the reason was due to they needed fuel. I saw them go to some power lines in Midland PA atop Hillcrest manor. As kids we would play up there due to around the power lines

My mother and I were in the car in an nearly empty parking lot leaving her office, where there is little light pollution. We were facing west and saw what we assumed was a plane, but it was orange in color and emanating a lot of light, it looked like an orange fireball. There is a small airport in town and we are used to seeing various small aircraft so we waited and watched so we could determine what kind of craft it was as it was in the flight range of a small aircraft. As we continued to watch as it travelled towards the east we noticed that it was making no sound. We watched as it made a sharp angle towards Lake Erie and then gradually it stopped emanating light and was just an orange ball then we could no longer see it. I called my sister to tell her that we saw a fireball in the sky and was on the phone with her for the rest of the duration. My mother and I were facing towards Lake Erie when we saw a flash in the sky, like a meteor. We turned to look in the original direction the fireball came from and saw another one coming in a similar path but this one seemed to be emanating even more light and was red, then it shifted colors to orange when it was overhead and continued towards the lake. We then saw a third fireball coming. I was scared so I told her to start driving home. At one point we looked back and two of the fireballs were stationary and stacked in a similar way as the Phoenix Lights. We lost sight of the objects as we went into town. Both of us are skeptics and trying to come up with a reasonable explanation. Neither of us has seen anything like this. They truly looked like fireballs. I have to think they are flares, but it was just too strange. My mother was not fearful but both of us felt kind of in shock.

I wish to respectfully ask you both an intelligent & logical question but a serious one about how victims of child sex abuse may feel about the glorification of accused paedophiles. Derek, I am aware you are a fan of, took part in a show & are going to conduct a live seance to attempt to receive contact from Michael Jackson. Taking away the fact that he was a well adored artist & produced some great tracks, as you know allegations were made of child sex abuse. We know out of court settlements were made & as intelligent individuals we are aware that jury’s can sometimes make wrong decisions. Testimonials & evidence suggest he is guilty but whether he is or not isn’t the question. The question relates to children & adults who have been subjected to child sexual abuse & the affects that still live on – do you have any comprehension of what psychological damage glorying an accused paedophile can do to them? I would ask you both to think about that as I have heard several accounts of upset, anger & confusion from victims. And what message does it send out to others & in fact paedophiles themselves? Someone somewhere in the world will see that as a green light & use that as an excuse to go out & prey on a child. It really does happen. Roman Polanski who has been proven guilty even gets plenty of support & people still want to work for him. I know you both care about the welfare of children & help raise money for them, but there will be a lot of children it …

After I looked it up I came across a bunch of things about the “green flash” that comes from the sun at sun up/down. Until last night I thought that’s what it had to be. Well last night we were driving through Ransom again(not in the same section) and in the complete darkness like right in front of us there was a green little bit of light, like a lazor pointer, and then we drove under it and it was like I don’t even know how to explain it, it was almost like it expanded over the car or something and then it was gone. Like a quick strobe light, of green all through the car. It was like it came from straight above us. I figured i should let someone know about it, it’s the 2nd time it’s happened. thanks for your time and sorry if this is just me being dumb.

I was outside on the deck with my family at dusk when my wife noted, “look at those planes” to my daughter. I moved to see them expecting to see military planes which fly over often from nearby Fort Carson and instead saw two cigar shaped craft with no wings flying side by side. We all watched them fly from East to West over the maontains at a very high altitude over the clouds. They flew in the same manner and appeared to be the same size as two 747′s cruising at 30-40,000 Ft – except they lacked wings. They made absolutely no sound. Even when jets cruise over at 35,000 ft, you can hear them out here. We watched for about 45 seconds as they disappeared over the mountains. It fely very strange as they did not appear like any planes we had ever seen before.

Hi, my name is Erica and I’m not sure exactly how to go about this, but here goes. Last week my girlfriend told me a story about how a few days before she was driving down Ransom RD. Duryea Pa. and she saw some green flash of light coming from the tree line. So she had me look it up because she believed it was some UFO or something because she said she could see the source of the light one second and then it was just gone.
