Documental que sigue a 80 personas que se presentan voluntarias para participar en el piloto de un nuevo concurso de televisión y que, sin saberlo, están participando en un experimento similar a los que Stanley Milgram realizó en Yale en los años sesenta para estudiar el impacto de la autoridad en la obediencia de la población. Con ellos, Milgram pretendía encontrar una explicación al sentimiento de la sociedad civil alemana bajo el mandato de Adolf Hitler.
