A couple in British Columbia saw a cigar-shaped UFO shining a light on a mountain face. During this event their automobile died, then restarted as the object ascended away from them.

Summary: UFO descended , hovered, shone abeam of light on mountain face, 3 times . shut off light and ascended faster than a blink. My car then started up without turning key.
Report:
Driving early morning from Vancouver, BC to Calgary, Alberta, through Yoho National Park, my wife told me to pull off the road so the bright lights could pass us. She saw it first when I pulled over. However, my car died, no lights, no radio. We were motionless for about 5 min., as it hovered and shone a single light on the face of one mountain. Then to a second face, then a third. Then it spread the beam of light over all three faces at once. After focusing for awhile, it turned off the beam and ascended and gone in split second.
The sky was cloudless full moon. The UFO had the shape of a cigar about the size of 2 football fields and hovered approx. 500 feet from the ground, one half mile(approx.) away from us, at a 60 degree angle on passenger side of me.
My wife at the time were scared stiff, for we had our infant daughter sleeping in the back seat.
As it descended it affected my auto by shutting it down. I didn’t even turn the car off. When it ascended and out of sight, the car started up without me turning the key.
Once in Calgary, phoned the observatory to report. They got both our statements and said if they hear anymore from that area, they would be in touch. No calls.

Report:
I believe it was just before christmas. It would have been in the mid 1970′s. I was born in 1966, this happened when I was around 8-10 yrs old.
My brother in law was driving his wife (my sister who was 20 when I was born) and myself to Sharon Pa. We were headed to a department store to go shopping. I was in the back seat looking out the right side window and saw some lights and a craft just over the trees about 2 tenths of a mile away. (At that age I had no idea about acceptable flight heights of crafts to really know that it shouldnt have been permitted to fly that low.) I didnt want to be laughed at by saying look a ufo, but as it got a little closer it was obious it wasnt a plane. I said LOOK A UFO!!! At first they chuckled and said yea uhuh, 10 seconds later they were agreeing with me! The entire sighting didnt last over 3 minutes.
I have watched ufo shows for a long time and have never heard my craft explained, nor do I think your choices on this page covers it either, thats why I checked other. The craft was shaped like a pool table, it was about 40 feet long by 20 feet wide it was 10 feet high. Had 6 lights on the bottom, where the pockets would be on a pool table. The craft was black, metal looking, it flew long ways, it had a window in the side of the craft that went top to bottom. There was a control panel visible but no one was seen in the window.
The craft flew across the highway just in front of our car and stopped over a trailer park that was right beside the highway. It tilted down over a trsiler and the bottom was 10 to 15 feet from the top of the trailer.
I remember that it was just getting dark and there were many headlights coming west and anybody driving would have seen it but as I recall nobody pulled over or stopped, neither did we! I couldnt believe my brother in law kept driving!! But he did.
I watched it from the right side, to flying in front of us and watching out the back window as we kept driving. I saw all sides of the craft.
I am guessing on the year, I was a child, but I do know it was in the mid 70′s.
Has anyone ever described a craft such as this? Or reported on this same encounter?
My sister has since passed away. When I was in my early 20′s I stopped to see my brother in law to ask him about that night. All he remembered was lights in the sky. I was greatly dissapointed, I had hoped he would have recalled some of the details.
I am not a good artist but I would be happy to describe it to an artist and share it with your agency.
The movements of the craft was in a straight line just as an airplane would fly, there was no up down just a straight flight path to the top of the trailer. Our viewing ended as we continued driving the craft was still above the trailer as we left the viewing range.
when I was older I drove down that road again to see what I remembered, and sure enough, there was still a trailer park right next to the highway.
If you may recall, there was a famous ufo encounter back in 2007 I believe in Girard Ohio when A policeman had a sighting and chased a craft till his car died. Mt sighting was on the outskirts of that town, roughly 5 air miles from his sighting.

Report:
This event was unusual in that hundreds of people saw this event, although I only talked about it with a few dozen.
There were seven sighted objects. They were only points of light and moved slowly into stationary position about a mile in diameter over the airfield of Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, Near Oak Harbor, Washington. One man came into my shop and told us about it and about 8 of us went out to watch together.
Within 3 minutes the Navy launched the ‘Ready 5′ attack aircraft. (five minute launch) They launched three heavily armed F-14 aircraft. The F-14′s chased the spots of light at about 3000 to 10,000 feet of elevation. The spots would remain stationary until the aircraft approached then suddenly dart away in some direction either vertical or horizontal. This silly chase went on for an hour. No weapons were fired, and none of the F-14′s came closer than a couple hundred yards of the UFO’s. Eventually, (in about an hour) the UFO’s tired of the game and simply accelerated vertically in formation right up and out of sight. Other aircraft including helicopters were launched but no aircraft came close to them.
The lights of the UFO’s was just large enough to see clearly like a white ball. Approximate size was that of an F-14.
Their acceleration was instantaneous, as was their stop. They would seem to slide across the sky, stop instantly, and return to their prior location. We could hear the F-14′s but heard no noise from the lights.
My girl friend at the time was working in the control tower on base. When I asked her later what she saw on the scope, she replied… “It has been deemed classified, and since I don’t want to spend time in Leavenworth… You won’t find out any thing from me.” She never did tell me anything..

Cesar Elorda's UFO picture.
At 19:40 on 23 May 1974, as Sr. Cesar Elorda was driving between Caleta Olivia and Comodoro Rivadavia, a coastal highway paralleling the shoreline of Golfo San Jorge, he noticed a strange aircraft approaching from east to west, across the highway, at not a very great speed. When he first saw it, it was coming from the gulf, from over water and was about 200 meters from land. It continued its course and passed over the highway as he came abreast of it, passing over his car also. He could see clearly now that, it was no airplane like he had ever seen before.

He stopped the car and got out with his camera, and was able to get one photograph before the object was too far away and passed on into the sunset.
The object was a circular lens-shaped craft with an indistinct flat bottom and a dome on the top. It was a dark dull gray and looked metallic. It flew lazily along, making no sound, and leaving no trail. He did not see any lights of any kind. The sun was already below the horizon when he snapped the picture but the sky was still quite bright.
People in that area see UFOs quite regularly, especially around Golfo San Jorge where many think that they go into and come out of the clear waters of the gulf. Some UFO researchers think there may be a submarine UFO base near there.
