This film earns five stars out of five for being a great all-around postmodern sci-fi retro parody. “Alien Files” was filmed in 1997 but was not released under that name. I recall seeing it late one night on Cinemax 10 years ago as “Sex Files: Alien Erotica.” I bought what was renamed the “Alien Files” DVD in 2000 for $5 (I can’t believe it’s out of print and being sold for $50 now!), watched it once, and didn’t pick it up again until yesterday, when I thought it was time for another viewing. I never watched the X Files when it was on, but have recently been doing so for the past 4 years. I must say in retrospect that not only is this an excellent X Files spoof, it’s got elements of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Species, and the Alien films by Ridley Scott. The lighting, theme song, background score, and acting is very much like the X-Files as is the premise of an alien fungus causing women to become frenzied nymphs. It’s also got a scary edge as was the case in the X Files, except here, no one is getting gruesomely killed. The best scene in the whole film is only a few minutes into it, and illustrates how the fungus was able to infect the people of earth from far out in space. A lot of care went into making this scene, so this first human encounter with the alien fungus is very detailed, protracted, and involved. The fungus first infects Dr. Claire Danning, the spacecraft’s female doctor played by actress Delphine Pacific, after she brings a piece of it (it looks like a Christmas wreath) into the spacecraft to examine it in her lab. After analyzing the plant and becoming satisfied that it is indeed originally from space, she proceeds to poke and prod it until she notices that the specimen is beginning to ooze a pink liquid that looks a lot like hair gel. All of a sudden, BAM!–Dr. Danning pokes the fungus too many times and is sprayed full in the face by its spores. The fungus spores cause Dr. Danning to get dizzy, feverish, very turned on, and (literally) to frantically rip her clothes off and rub the fungus’ secretions all over her naked body and pleasure herself. What makes this scene simultaneously erotic and comedic is the radical switch that Dr. Danning’s character undergoes: Delphine Pacific (VERY HOT) is made up to look like a frumpy “Ugly Bettyish” nerd with horn-rimmed glasses, white lab coat, pocket protector, and clipboard. But under her uniform, (as a reviewer above mentions) Dr. Danning has a tight hard body, has erect nipples about 1 inch long, is not wearing underwear or a bra, and is completely shaven below. After causing her to go all horny, strip, smear, and slide, the fungus then generates a clone of Dr. Danning, leaving the exhausted and naked real Dr. Danning passed out on the floor. The cloned Dr. Danning is a sex-crazed nymphomaniac who proceeds to spread the contagion to other members of the crew. The alien fungus generates a clone of each person it infects and also causes people to hallucinate the people they desire. When the spacecraft landed, it infected two security guards, and then spread across the country through strip joints, diners, and bars–with the FBI hot on its trail. There is a lot of simulated sex and real nudity in this film, and some cheesy effects as well as interesting animation towards the end.

For a soft-core sex film it has an unusually good (and hilarious) plot. The women are truly gorgeous and real humour is sprinkled all through the film. Truly outstanding, and for a budget price. I will have to investigate the others in this series
