It is a little difficult to calculate the inside gravity of the moon at any given distance from the center where there would be null gravity. On the inside there would be gravity, but it seems like it would be pulling toward the outside or toward the outer surface . It is like the world we know but with extremely low gravity and all light would be imported from the surface. Water would still be held by gravity, but it wouldn’t be heavy as on earth, and held together with “hydrogen bonding”.
On the moon the sun would have enough radiant power that the critical “engine power factor” would be in the ability of the cooling side to radiate heat into space or wherever. We might be talking maybe 1000 degrees in the sun collection side and several hundred degrees on the cooling or heat radiating side. This way water would be a good gas since it woul remain well above freezing or even above boiling temps and still work well.
A good way to build a gas engine would be to have a heat collection module in the sun’s light and then have it circulate some gas CO2, N2, or H2O or some combo of these where it runs in a closed cycle with collectors in the sun and radiators out of the sun’s heat. It would be a fairly simple concept. The hight heat and extreme cold would create a kind of close cycle gas pipeline engine. There would be ways to make any one of these gas mediums to work. Free ample energy on the moon.
With the kind of energy differential on the moon, energy capture might include little more than a pipeline that crosses the Sun’s and shadow path. This energy differential could easily be a perfectly clean source of power. They could use hydrogen and oxygen for any local energy needs. They would use some manner of centrifuge to separate these gases. They have free energy like we have free air. It wouldn’t be anywhere near as civilized nutzo as life on Earth.
They would have to lunaform it. Seal the holes and add essential life needs. If there was some water they could make oxygen and hydrogen. The good news is they have the Sun’s energy to drive their projects, and it would in the long run be a much more stabile environment thant the earth’s surface. You have to figure they would be life forms and therefore a great deal like ppl except they don’t run around making up reasons to kill or defeat one another, So the probably smoke pot and enjoy..
i have a hollow moon theory.. Chances are it is far more likely to be hollow than not.. If it were penetrated by a water bearing body when it was still molten it would likely end up being a bubble where gravity would have a kind of surface tension emulating effect. It would expand until some venting occured and the internal water would expand into space until it got cold. Anyway the whole inside could be hollow with a low grav environment. Creatures could live there.
