I am a carrier for the local newspaper and was making my deliveries. I stopped to ?porch? one of my customers papers and looked up to the sky when I got out of my car. I saw what looked like a star moving right to left. I say it looked like a star, but it was a little brighter and a more defined circular shape than the stars around it. I immediately got the sense that this was something out of the ordinary, it obviously wasn’t a star because it moved, and it wasn’t a plane.

I am certain it wasn?t a plane as I see them in the night sky often and they usually have blinking red & white lights, and move in a smooth, linear motion at a constant rate of speed. The object I saw was a solid white light that did not blink, it moved faster than what a plane would and it?s movements were not smooth, but more erratic. It moved up, than down, then in a more or less straight line, then it made like a half circle and began to dim, as though it were moving away from me, and just disappeared.

My initial reaction was disbelief. I am interested in the paranormal and UFO’s and have always hoped I would be witness to something like this, so I didn’t want my desire to color what could be a sighting of an ordinary object. However, after just a second or two, I felt certain, I knew, that what I was seeing wasn’t ordinary. I stood quite still and watched the object until, as I said, it faded and disappeared. I could hear my car radio behind me and there was no static or interference. Neither was there any interference with the car engine. I heard no sounds from the object.

I and a friend saw tonight 12 March, 2011 just south of Fort Worth Texas to east, a bright white ball of white light move very swiftly across the sky. It was not a shooting star or airplane as it was nothing like those recognizable things we have seen many times before. No streaking, quite fast for sure, and not a spotlight probably because it was too bright and concentrated as a ball of light. Witnesses just a few miles away, but seen through the tops of a line of trees partially obscuring it. Definitely something we could not identify, so… Just wondering if anyone might have a similar sighting, or information on such a thing. Could ball lightning resemble this, very pleasant night hazy low clouds, mild wind, no humidity weather-wise.

I just came in from looking at Jupiter and Venus. I asked the wife to come and look. As we were star gazing I told her about a light moving across the sky last week that I saw. As I was pointing towards Orion’s belt there was this bright star like light moving across the night sky. I told my wife see I’m not nuts she saw it to. Question is. What is it??????????

  • Yesterday, 27 april 2011. I was standing outside and as every other night, I was looking up to the stars. Suddenly I saw exactly what you described. A fast moving ball of white light, no sound, no flickering lights as we are used to. It crossed the sky above my head, then suddenly disappeared. The sky was clear, no clouds, all the stars were visible. I am in total awe of having found the proof I always was looking for.

  • NSC:

i have seen this light as well.twice i have seen it.i have also sen to small dim star moving at the same time but not in a strate line just haphazeredly and same with a blue light and i have seen a red light moving like if it where a bug.

  • miss gert:

i was sitting outside looking up at the sky around 9:30 at night during this spring and i noticed a small light moving through the sky swiftly but silently. it turned many time like a bug or bird flying but it was deffiently not and it was a lot farther away like a star would be , it was perfectly circular and was a blazing white color. later on i noticed another light and i relized it must be the same one but this time it was closer to the ground a little larger looking in the sky , mabey the size of a penny. and it moved from left to right in a straight line untill i couldnt see it anymore, what was it??

  • scotty:

I see those regularly,, don’t know there high up ,,
I say that because the reason we can see them is
they are reflecting from the sun,, I have seem them
cross the sky then just slowly fade away..Once the space station came over a scheduled sighting,, it moved fast
very similar ,,again size of stars they move and must be up
there,, I have seen them for last couple of years,,
and could see them nightly reguarly,,, thoght might
be satelite but they move in all directions, thot could
be airline above 30000 ft not sure on that one no blinking
lights does anybody have a clue, ive seen 2 2-nite
could it be military aircraft high up (50000 ft) we
    see only from sun reflect.

  • Kevin:

This was most likely a satellite, they are quite common and not hard to find (sometimes brighter than surrounding stars). Just the other night I saw two moving through the sky just minutes apart from one another. Nothing to freak out over, though they are kind of cool

  • Tracy:

I just came in from a late night run to the gas station and I just saw the same thing. It looked like a star but it did a quick dip then back up and then it just disappeared. At first I thought it was a plane but a plane was coming towards the direction in which I saw that dancing star. The plane was moving very slow compared to the moving light and it was much lower then what the light was and the plane also had flashing red and white lights. What in the world did I just see in the south suburbs of Chicago?

  • Dave:

I regularly see steady white lights moving at a steady speed similar to an aircraft. They always head in a similar direction and at first I assumed they were just civil/military aircraft. I’m pretty sure all aircraft need to have their nav lights on and flashing when in the air. These have none just a fixed white light. Passenger jets regulary fly over my town in Southwest Scotland and I can tell thats what they are from their lights, speed and noise. These lights are silent and always fade out when an airliner passes nearby. They do move at a similar speed but silent with no nav lights. i dont get it. Need to find out if military jets fly at night without lights.

Just saw the same thing here in Denver tonight. I just walked out to the backyard and was looking up at the big dipper. Clear, dark, about 10pm. then out or the corner of my eye I saw what I thought was a bright star but it was moving. First instinct was, oh, that must just be a plane. But, I like everyone else here, have seen many planes, jets and helicopters at night and this was something different. No blinking lights, no noise. It moved about as fast as an jet plane in a straight line. I was tempted to run in and get a video camera, but knew that would take too long so just followed it across the sky, not taking my eyes off of it. Then it just disappeared. It moved from NW to SE. I tried to thing of logical reason or natural phenomenon, but couldn’t.

  • Tracey:

I saw it too. I was sitting out by my pool in a lounge chair. I love the night sky and everything to do with it. Then I noticed what looked like a star. But it was moving and was much brighter than any thing else in the sky that night. It moved from west to east but i didnt notice it until it was right above me. I kept watching and then it just vanished. I didnt think anything else of it. Then 10 to 15 minutes later it showed up again. Same direction west to east but this time it seemed brighter. This time i got up in order to keep a good eye on it. As it got right above me it curved to the north and started to fade. I turned a very light reddish color then vanished. Now i was thinking what the heck is that. Another 15 to 20 minutes go by and sure enough it shows up again. This time however is coming from the north and moving south. I seemed to be alot dimmer and alot higher. It got about 3/4 across the sky and vanished for the last time. Now i have seen a lot of things in the night sky in my lifetime( 2 comets, shooting stars, a bright green light zoom across the sky). Last year got to see the international space station move across the night sky three nights in a row. I also see lots of planes on a nightly basis which always have flashing lights on them. I have to say out of all those things i have never witnessed anything like this before.

  • Ashley and Andy:

we saw the same thing four times tonight! we live in Ohio and this is the second time this week. this “star” seems to be traveling in the same path. as soon as its parallel to the north star it fades. this is probably the 12th time I have seen this “star” it is out of the ordinary. I am thinking its some sort of military thing or research object. it’s a little erie and creepy. I have also noticed when this star is bright, everything is more active like animals.

  • tady:

i saw the samething to the same time 10pm and it faded and dissaperaed after 2 seconds it was fast and if it was a plane it might have light of blue or red i might be one of wittnesses to see and know first of ufo

  • i just saw this and it was followed by an helocopter

  • Lizz:

Just saw a bright white light, fast moving, zig zagging and silent. It would be just like any other thing but it was completely silent and just went right over head and didn’t disappear plus it didn’t have any flashing lights.Any ideas?

  • Barbara:

I live in Rhode Island and was outside last night looking for the Perseid meteor shower..first,I saw one white light moving across the sky that looked exactly like a star but it traveled quite far- no blinking, no red light, and then it just disappeared. Later, I saw two white lights, again, no blinking, perfectly spaced apart, that were moving across the sky, so I had my husband come out and look (I wanted a witness!) and he also saw them, then they stopped and sort of hovered. It was quite strange. I know it wasn’t a plane, don’t think it as a satellite…any ideas?

  • Andrew:

Hi all, I live in Eastbourne ,United Kingdom. I have seen this bright light in the sky the last few nights, very bright, not a plane, does not flicker as a plane would with flashing lights. Constant bright light so lot of energy , travels in straight line. Noticed it around 10pm at night.

I can’t explain it, I don’t believe it is a satellite , too bright, travels relatively fast.

  • Andrew:

Would be interesting to know if people can recall what time they saw this to see If their is a pattern

  • Kim Liningtonkim:

I was looking at Saturn and Mars through my telescope when a bright light/star moved across the field of view from left to right on a horizontal plain. I proceeded to follow it with my telescope as it moved at a rapid speed. It then returned across the same field of view from right to left, of which I followed it again across the night sky until it disappeared in the vicinity of Mars & Saturn (As viewed through my telescope.)
    What is this phenomenon?

  • Gerry Cummings:

I live right on the lake. Lake Nipissing in North Bay Canada. I’ve seen fast moving strange stuff over the lake late at night. I saw a star like object, just like a regular star, traveling a distance straight, stop, continue in another direction. No flashing lights, far away to me and it was moving for sure. Nothing else up there moved around. It was no plane. It turned 75 degrees.

  • liam tatum:

I was at e v music festival in Chelmsford England at the weekend an saw exactly this too I watched in complete amazement trying to reason in my head what this fast moving star like. Shape was that past from one side of the sky to the other over about ten seconds, but I couldn’t, it was dead silent, too fast to be a plane but slower than a shooting star an travelled neatly in a smooth straight line.
Deffinately no explanation in my eyes.

  • Matt and Kim:

August 21 & 22, 2012 My boyfriend and I were camping on Deer Rock Lake, just north of Flinton, Ontario, Canada. It was just after dusk, could barely see the light from the sun on the horizon. A large, bright, white object, larger than the stars was moving on a west to east bearing. There were 2 planes in the sky with it ( they had their flashing lights). When this object got close to the one plane, the plane made a dramatic change of course (as though it were avoiding it), it then faded off into the distance. My boyfriend figured it was something military, high enough in the sky that it was reflecting from the sun. The next night, the exact same thing. Same object on the same course. This time there was no interferance with planes. No sounds, nothing. Could this have been a space station, satelite or something else. Curious to know.

  • Daniel:

I live in Ternat in Belgium and the 27th of September I saw the exact same thing around 24:00 CET. In the nightsky it was rund, white and around 1/6 in size of what the moon looks like from here. It moved north to south in a straight line. I have never seen anything like it before. Its for sure not a plane, since I see 5-6 of those a day living close to the airport.

  • Chris:

Hi guys, I live in South Australia and have just seen 4 of whatever these things are outside in the daytime.
I was lying on the ground and looking up at the blue clear sky when I noticed some white dots that were moving.
There were 3 flying near each other, one moving straight along I think and the others circling around before dissapearing.
Then I saw another white dot travel in an arc further along before dissapearing out of my suburban sights.
Very strange, will be watching for the buggers from now on!

  • randy:

april 25th 2013….full moon..9:15pm 3rd indivisual sighting, 1 bright white light, low altitude, moving faster then the 2 passenger jets flying into sam francisco. moving east.

  • Dave:

My wife and I sit in the backyard just about every night and watch these balls of light go across the sky and disappear. Its unusual not to see at least one. Most nights we see between 3-6 of these. Some will light up extremely bright and get very large and then dim back down and then fade away. Sometimes they just appear and will also flash at us two or three times. They usually move very fast but sometimes move slowly as well. Usually, they are white but a few have been a orange like color. A few times we have seen two or three in a perfect row go across the sky. We have had friends and one 14 yr old daughter of one of our friends, all witness these. I’ve been out and seen them and when I pointed it out to people around me, they don’t see anything, although, its right above us and big? I live in Phoenix, AZ and enjoy this nightly show. I have also found that one friend who is really an skeptical of all this could not see them.
