First hour guest, leader of the Raelian Movement, Rael, discussed his ET encounters which took place in 1973 at a volcanic crater in France. During these encounters, he said he learned that humans were not the result of random evolution, but deliberately created by the aliens through DNA experimentation. Rael, who is hoping to build an embassy for ETs by 2035, answered criticisms made of his group. Author Marshall Klarfeld shared his contention that a group of ETs known as the Annunaki visited Earth and genetically altered humans. Basing some of his suppositions on the work of Zecharia Sitchin who translated ancient cuneiform tablets of the Sumerians, Klarfeld said the Annunaki arrived from the rogue planet Niburi, which is on a 3600 year orbit in our solar system. As they needed gold to repair their planet’s atmosphere, the Annunaki decided to alter Homo erectus into a new species– Homo sapiens, so they could serve as miners for them, he explained.

Lecturer Ori Brafman and his brother, psychologist Dr. Rom Brafman discussed their new book Sway, which looks at why people make irrational choices. “The way that we defined it,” Rom said about irrational thinking, “is that it’s about doing something that you know was the wrong decision afterwards.” One of the key motivators behind irrational thinking is the concept of “loss aversion.” Ori explained, “we feel the pain of a loss so strongly, that we go to really extreme means to avoid that loss.” He described this effect in the story of Jacob van Zanten, an airline captain who was concerned about a delay effecting his reputation for punctual flights. His haste to get the plane flying again ended up causing the largest airline disaster in history. Investigative reporter Linda Moulton Howe presented reports on ‘dragonfly’ drone sightings, a pearl-colored sphere retrieved in Alabama, the Mars Phoenix Lander, and a new cattle mutilation case. The new Mars mission isn’t intended to determine if microbes exist in the soil, Prof. Peter Smith noted. During Open Lines, George offered a special line for callers who have told true stories to people who would not believe them. Joyce said a 6-ft tall “dark-hooded figure” appeared by her bed one night, with a “small, impish figure” standing next to him. The impish figure ran onto the bed, Joyce explained, crossing over her stomach three times. According to Joyce, the hooded figure told her that this meant “death.” She told George nobody in her apartment complex believed her, not even her husband. Joyce said her next pregnancy ended prematurely. Shawn in Duluth, Minnesota recalled seeing a “huge, metallic bowl-shaped object” when he was growing up in Texas. He said his siblings also witnessed the UFO, but their father had asked them to keep the sighting a secret. Later, Shawn said he told an Air Force Colonel about what he had seen that night. During Open Lines, George offered a ‘Weird Stories’ hotline. He also asked for a few native Hawaiians to phone into the show and speak in the Pidgin language. A caller near Dallas, Texas recounted a strange experience she had while working as a nurse. The caller said one of her dying patients told her she could see a man dressed in white and her deceased sister standing outside the window. According to the caller, the patient was told by her sister that it was okay for her to go. She passed away an hour later, the caller said.Jim in Colorado Springs recalled when his grandmother was on her deathbed. He said the woman in the room next to his grandmother’s came in one night, put her hand on his grandmother’s head and said “Lord, take this child home. She’s suffered long enough.” After his grandmother’s funeral, Jim said he returned to the facility to thank the woman for helping his grandmother cross to the other side.
